How to Make Your Pool Look Like A Natural Lagoon

How to Make Your Pool Look Like A Natural Lagoon

You have your pool, maybe it’s an older pool and looking a little *dated* or you have a new pool you want to add some finishing touches to. Maybe you want to make your pool look and feel a little more *beachy* or you just want to be able to entertain friends and family in a bright tropical atmosphere. The good news is there is a way to bring the beach, the lagoon or the resort style look and feel into your backyard pool.

  • Add a cool *pool fountain* - a pool fountain is a great way to add some ambience to your yard, you can make your pool fountain light up, by adding some fun colour changing LED’s. Pool fountains are pretty easy to install, simply place the fountain into the pool after you have connected it to your pools return line and let it do its job. In the evening, a colour changing fountain lights up the area and looks amazing.
  • Install a pool waterfall – waterfalls are a wonderful way to bring tranquillity to your pool area, you can buy waterfalls in a range of styles so just choose the waterfall that suits your pool and needs best.
  • Add a *reef* - if you have always dreamed of sailing the Whitsunday’s or exploring the Great Barrier Reef you can add your reef directly to your pool. Using decals, you can swim along the bottom of the pool and explore the reef, complete with sand, coral and even fish. Decals are available for concrete, vinyl and fibreglass pools and give a new meaning to the saying - *swimming amongst the fishes*
  • Lounges – if you are more into sitting by the pool and relaxing with a book while keeping an eye on the kids, or you just want to lay around working on your tan. There are some wonderful lounges and hammocks you can buy that look great around the pool and give your yard that resort style looks and feel. Not all guests will want to swim, so some lounges scattered around will give them a nice place to sit and relax.
  • Add a fire pit – on those nights where it’s too chilly to swim but still nice to be outside a fire pit will keep you and your family warm while near the pool. Great addition for back yard barbeques and parties. You have your nice resort style/lagoon oasis pool, enjoy the look and atmosphere any chance you can – even when it’s too cold to swim.
  • Palm trees – while it might not be viable to have some palm trees planted, you can always consider a poster or mural added to your fence. There are some great posters suitable for hanging around your pool with relaxing beach scenes or just bright green foliage. Less work than looking after real plants and you don’t get leaves etc. in your pool!
  • Say welcome to the beach – if you want to expand your beach/lagoon/resort theme you can always opt for furniture that reflects your theme, from tables and chairs to lanterns and other decorations. Always opt for furniture that is weather proof/water proof, you don’t want to have to be dragging furniture in and out every time it rains.
  • Diving Board – these have come a long way from a board hanging out over the water, you can get a diving board that is *hidden* by pretend rocks and boulders which give your pool a more natural look and feel, like you are jumping off the rocks, rather than jumping from a flat piece of board. These artificial cliff style settings can be purchased in a range of colours and themes to suit your design needs perfectly.
  • Pool slide – another way to add a beach/resort/lagoon style addition to the pool, slides come in different heights from straight to rounded and will bring your kids hours of fun.
  • Lighting – don’t forget to add some ambience and light your pool up of a night time, after all, you don’t want your guests sitting in the dark. You can add solar powered floating lights to your pool, string some beach theme lights or use some umbrella lights. There are many deck lighting options available, and in pool lights from plain white to coloured and colour changing, the choices are endless.
